Joe Dumit, a writer and specialist in contact improvisation, and a core member of Experimenting, Experiencing, Reflecting (EER), together with multidisciplinary artist, choreographer, and dancer Kevin O’Connor invited studio members to explore biotensegrity principles. Tensegrity, a term coined by Buckminster Fuller, is a structural principle based on the use of isolated components in compression inside a net of continuous tension. The improvisation session, held at the studio kitchen, moved from observing foam bubbles to simulating flexible fascia systems by holding onto each others’ clothing.
