Geraldine Kirrihi Barlow, the curatorial manager of International Art at QAGOMA, Brisbane (AU), is interested in the energy that arises from the intersections between people, cultures, and ideas. Drawing on her mixed heritage, as well as her work over the past two decades with artists from Australia and around the globe, she explores questions around agency, memory, space, trauma, justice, beauty, and the creative process.

Geraldine and Olafur have kept in touch since Eliasson’s Riverbed (2014) flowed through QAGOMA as part of the group exhibition Water, in 2019. As part of the planning process for a major upcoming solo exhibition at QAGOMA, Geraldine came to the studio in Berlin for two months to gain a better understanding of its workings and the studio community.
